Do I need a prescription, script or physician's referral? In California, you do not need a prescription, script, or physician’s referral to begin physical therapy. Thanks to Direct Access laws, you can start physical therapy treatment without seeing a doctor first. However, some insurance plans may require a referral for coverage, so it’s best to check with your provider for specific details.
-
How do I schedule or reschedule an appointment? To schedule or reschedule an appointment, you can contact us directly via phone or email. We will do our best to accommodate your preferred time, but we encourage scheduling in advance for best availability. If you need to reschedule, please notify us at least 24 hours before your appointment to avoid any cancellation fees.
-
What happens if I miss an appointment? At Ritschel Concierge Physical Therapy, we kindly request 24-hour notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer that time slot to other patients in need of care. If you miss an appointment or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, you may be subject to a cancellation fee or the cost of the visit.
-
How can I prepare for my first session? To prepare for your first session at Ritschel Concierge Physical Therapy, be sure to: Wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Have your medical history and any relevant documents handy, such as recent imaging or physician notes. Set up a quiet, open space for your session, free from distractions. List any questions or concerns you may have about your condition or treatment. Be ready to discuss your goals for therapy and any specific areas of discomfort. Your therapist will guide you through the rest!
-
What can I expect during my first visit?During your first visit with Ritschel Concierge Physical Therapy, you can expect: Comprehensive Evaluation: Your therapist will take a detailed medical history, ask about your current symptoms, and perform a physical assessment, which may include movement analysis and specific tests related to your condition. Goal Setting: Together with your therapist, you’ll discuss your personal goals for therapy, whether it’s reducing pain, improving mobility, or recovering from surgery. Treatment Plan: Based on the evaluation, your therapist will create a customized plan of care tailored to your needs. This may include exercises, manual therapy, and education on self-care techniques. Initial Treatment: Depending on the findings, you may begin your treatment during the first session with exercises, stretches, or hands-on techniques. Your therapist will provide guidance on how to continue your care at home between sessions.
-
Can I have another person with me at my appointment?Yes, you are welcome to have a friend, family member, or caregiver present with you at your Ritschel Concierge Physical Therapy appointment. Having someone with you can provide support and help you feel more comfortable during your session. Please let us know in advance if you plan to have someone present, especially if they will participate in discussions about your treatment or care.
-
What should I do if I experience discomfort during examination and/or treatment? If you experience discomfort during your examination or treatment, it’s important to let your therapist know immediately. We can adjust the treatment to ensure your comfort and safety. Your feedback helps us tailor the session to your needs and avoid unnecessary discomfort.
-

Your therapist will ensure that you receive the attention and care necessary to address your specific needs during each session.
-
How often will I be receiving physical therapy? The frequency of your physical therapy sessions will depend on your individual treatment plan, specific condition, and goals. -
How much does a PT evaluation/session cost? Please contact us or complete our “Request a Consult” form to discuss your personalized needs and services. We’re happy to provide details, including cost estimates, as these can vary based on individual treatment plans.
-
Do you take my insurance?Ritschel Concierge Physical Therapy operates as a cash-based clinic to prioritize patient-centered, high-quality care without the constraints that insurance policies often impose. Insurance companies can limit the frequency, duration, or type of treatment patients receive, which may not always align with what’s best for individual recovery needs. By not taking insurance, Ritschel Concierge PT can focus on personalized care, allowing the therapist to decide on the most effective treatments and spend as much time as necessary with each patient. This approach supports a more flexible, comprehensive, and effective path to wellness.
-
But what if I want my insurance company to pay?At Ritschel Concierge Physical Therapy, while we don’t directly submit claims to insurance, we make it easy for patients to seek reimbursement by providing a superbill. This document includes the necessary insurance-based codes and charges, allowing patients to submit claims to their insurance company and potentially receive reimbursement based on their plan’s coverage. This approach gives you flexibility while enabling us to offer highly personalized care.
-
If I submit my superbill or claim to the insurance, how much money will I get back? While Ritschel Concierge Physical Therapy provides superbills for patients to submit to their insurance, we cannot guarantee reimbursement or predict the amount, as each insurance plan and carrier is different. We recommend consulting with your insurance provider directly to discuss possible reimbursement options and coverage details.
-
Since it's a "cashed-based clinic," do I have to pay only in cash? Not at all! “Cash-based” simply means that Ritschel Concierge Physical Therapy operates independently of insurance billing. You don’t need to pay in cash; we accept various forms of payment, including credit and debit cards and digital payment options.
-
Can I get a Good Faith Estimate?Yes, you are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) for the cost of physical therapy services if you are uninsured or if you plan to pay out-of-pocket. The Good Faith Estimate is part of the “No Surprises Act,” which aims to give you a clear idea of the expected costs for care. Please let us know if you would like to receive a GFE, and we will provide one for you prior to starting treatment.
